Marlo Lyda is an Australian-born designer-maker, curator, and consultant, currently based in Sydney, Australia. With a talent for transforming disregarded resources into delicate yet functional objects, Marlo's personal work sparks a profound reassessment of the intrinsic value embedded in overlooked or 'waste' materials. Her passion for celebrating makers and their materials is evident in her own designs, as well as within the group exhibitions she curates.

In 2021, Marlo graduated Cum Laude with her project Scraptopia from the Design Academy Eindhoven, where she integrated conceptual "Design Thinking" with a hands-on approach to creation and collaboration, drawing from her education in the Netherlands. Since then, her work has garnered international recognition, with exhibitions at renowned events like Dutch Design Week, and prominent design showcases in Australia such as Melbourne and Sydney Design Weeks. Her most recent collection, 'Remnants,' received the Judges Choice Award in the VIVID Emerging Design Competition and was prominently displayed at the esteemed Powerhouse Museum during SDW’22.

Marlo has recently been selected for the inaugural NSW Design (Early Career) Fellowship - Powerhouse Residency, in partnership with Create NSW, with plans to develop a new collection that is ‘mined’ from our waste. In 2023, Marlo also established MATTERS, a three-part group exhibition series that emphasizes the importance of time and intention in the design process. The first installment, (NO THINGS) MATTERS, premiered at the prestigious Villa Alba Museum during Melbourne Design Week ‘23 and was met with high acclaim.
